Augmented Reality

Last week we worked on a story about class pets.  We have two Beta Fish as our class pets.  In writing we are working on non-fiction pieces.  The kids were given a picture of a fish in the fish bowl and asked to color it.  Once the coloring was completed and I modeled the assignment to the class, they were instructed to write five descriptive sentences about their pet fish.  As the students were writing I walked around the room with our classroom iPad and made their fish come to life with an augmented reality app.  The students were amazed seeing their fish swimming around in the bowl the way they colored it.  Using this application I found their writing seemed to be very descriptive and more detailed then I received in the past.
