Houston, We Have a Problem!

This week students attempted their "Genius Hour" project.  They had to build a house out of newspaper and tape to fit the 4 members in their group. Mr. Hudson (@hudson524) and I (@amanda_devita) started off by telling them "It is okay to fail!"  We also talked about collaboration, a word we have been using a lot this year in class.  Did the students succeed?  Take a look for yourself.  I think the pictures speak volumes!

While the students were learning Mr. Hudson and I also reflected and realized we underestimated the amount of materials that we needed.  So we discussed this with our students, how everyone makes mistakes and most likely never does something right the first time.

So we are attempting our project again!  We made flyers to send home with our students detailing our first attempt and failure.  We also are asking families and staff members to send in newspaper and tape to help make our next attempt a success.

I am so proud and excited of our students.  Some of them actually went home and researched how to improve their next attempt.  Stay tuned for our 2nd try!

Supplies needed:  newspaper and tape
