Formative Assessment

Today in reading we learned about Martin Luther King Jr.   Using a website called BrainPop, the students watched a cartoon about him.  Following the cartoon they took an online assessment and emailed their results directly to Mrs. DeVita or Mr. Hudson.  If they were not happy with their score they were able to re-watch the video and/or retake the test as many times as needed. We use these formative assessments daily during math and reading to see where each individual student is for that day.  This data helps us drive our classroom instruction and differentiate for each student.  We know which student struggles with each individual lesson on a daily basis.  You see these formative assessments when the students completes a lesson in Sophia or in Pearson.  These quizzes or lessons are excellent practice for the upcoming PARCC assessment!  Try today's lesson for yourself!
